Audit engagement
Variation & Change-Order Audit
When the variation register grows faster than the meeting notes, we audit each change for measurement accuracy, rate fairness, and whether the supporting instruction actually exists.
Who it is for
Owners and project managers facing a cluster of change orders who need an independent check before approving cost.
What is included
- Line-by-line review of selected variations
- Comparison of claimed quantities with drawings and site records
- Commentary on rate build-ups and daywork sheets
- Summary table of recommended approve / query / reject actions
What is excluded
- Drafting new architect’s instructions
- Negotiating settlement figures on your behalf without instruction
How the work runs
-
Register triage
We sort the variation list by value and age, then agree which items enter the deep audit.
-
Evidence check
Each selected item is tested against drawings, instructions, photos, and measurement.
-
Decision table
You receive a plain-language table with recommended next steps for each item.
A note on entitlement
Cost accuracy and contractual entitlement are related but not identical. We highlight where the paperwork supporting a change is thin, so your contract administrator can decide how to proceed.
